In Nursery and Reception, 'JOLLY PHONICS' and 'LETTERS AND SOUNDS' schemes are used to teach Phonics.

In Key Stage 1, 'LETTERS AND SOUNDS' is used to teach Phonics, along with resources from Read/Write/Inc. 



At St Mary's we use a variety of banded books, beginning with Oxford Reading Tree scheme, which are closely matched to National Curriculum Reading 'levels'.

'Accelerated Reader' has been employed to accurately pitch the level of reading books throughout the school, in order to ensure clear progression for children in their reading.
